Valentine's day is fast approaching.

Are you planning to spending this day with your loved one?

A lot of people would be wearing the color "red" on this day. It's pretty typical. After all, they're just celebrating the day with love on their shirts. Well, red, I think, is bit outdated. Go for other colors. It won't hurt.

In other news...

So, how's life? Good.

The first few months are a bit difficult. Some people made the wrong choices in life. That's fine for as long as they correct the action and they say "don't be too hard on yourself."

As for me, I'm enjoying small victories. However, I don't savor these victories for too long. I try to ensure that I push and stretch my limits. That way, you become more skilled in what you do and you become a better person.

Okay, enough wisdom. Happy valentine's! I don't mind going to the tunnel of love on this day! :P

Well, a lot happened to me this year.

Some were good.

Some were bad.

But for me, this was a good year. It wasn't just an "okay" year. It wasn't just a "6 out of 10" year.

No, it was more like a 8.5 out of 10 year for me. Call it positive thinking. Call it positive perspective. But that's how I see my year.

I sincerely hope that next year will be a better year for me. Without me knowing it, my dreams are slowly coming true.

I think this best describes my life right now. After a hard and nasty fall, I bounce back. Of course, I don't plan on going back down. I want to stay at the top and just give my best to whatever I do.

Christmas is fast approaching. As always, I am thinking of a nice Christmas gift for myself. I work hard and I need to treat myself once in a while. Hmm... I wonder if I need a nice vacation today...

When I had the chance to backread some of my blog posts, I thought to myself that some of these posts were not, um, positive. They certainly reveal what you were feeling during that day but does not contribute anything positive into your life.

Think Positive as they say. That's the way to go, really. Even if the weather isn't agreeing with your positive attitude (oh come on, talking about the weather is interesting sometimes), you should continue to carry that positive aura.

I might do some cleanups in this blog here. After all, I've been blogging for quite some time now (seriously, I think this blog needs a new makeover). I might also publish some of my drafts that I have saved for quite some time now (I hope to have time for it). Anyway, moving on...

Cinemalaya is fast approaching! Another set of Indie Films to watch. I sincerely hope it's better this year. Not that I have anything against last year but I hope to see some improvements (trust me, I found myself disagreeing on some of the awards given to some films--- some deserved it, some just didn't).

Despite being somewhat too tired to continue, the Commencement Exercises was generally a success. I am happy to be a part of the event. My assistance along with the help of other staff (who were really fantastic) are a definite asset to this successful event.

So tired... but I feel so good knowing that things went our way. It's what I call a win-win-win situation (They [the graduates] win, we win, I WIN)

I am patient. I don't want to fall asleep waiting for the page to load. I will wait until everything is 100% complete.

Then, without warning, the line gets disconnected.

Do I get frustrated? Well, yes. I'm thinking about subscribing for a some Wireless Internet connection or DSL but the idea is quickly dismissed. They said it's too expensive.

Why not buy and try the USB stick modems you see on TV? We did but the signal is lousy here. So much for the investment, huh?

Right now, I'm still on dial-up. If I want faster Internet access, I could go to those Internet shops. Then again, I only use the Internet for useful and/or productive purposes (Yeah, right :-P )

Okay! After that long statement, I would just to say...

"I can't wait for 2012."

When I said 2012, I meant the movie and not the year itself. Who knows what will actually happen during that year. Apocalypse? New World Order? Okay, that just makes me wanna watch 2012 more.

Yeah, me too... I don't know where this is going.

The Question Mark symbol denotes confusion and doubt. It could also imply a thirst for knowledge (if people want answers, they might need to start asking questions). With 2010 AND the filing of candidacy drawing nearer and nearer, it's hard to determine who will rise above the others, much more determining on who you will be rooting for in the coming elections. So, who will you support?

As for that question, hmmm... well, I bet it's a little too early for that anyway... for some at least.

I don't know why I'm posting something like this but I can't help but feel bothered by various political personalities who say that he or she will run for President/Vice President and promises to the people that changes will be made in the next administration. Well, whatever. I need to see your platform first (if you have one).

Movies watched recently...

Up and Kimmy Dora.

Okay, to start off, Up is a very good animated film. It tackles such a mature content that even I am amazed on how they're able to pull this off. Well, considering it's a Disney Pixar animated film, expect Up to contain funny, perky and "feel-good" scenes though you can never rule out that there are heavy, dramatic scenes along the way (Awww... how sad for her to die like that...) and News Flash: There is blood (well, animated blood but blood nonetheless!) in there and I am like "Woah! No way..." Still, it's good for youngsters and for those who like to relax and watch a good movie.

As for Kimmy Dora, well, I'm astounded as how Eugene can carry herself in the film. Gone are the days wherein she is just a supporting character. This is definitely her debut. Brilliant Acting, Eugene. As for the story, well... it feels all too familiar... Certain teleseryes pop into my head whenever I see familiar-looking scenes. Honestly, I had very high expectations in this film (Watched the trailers several times because I find it hilarious) and when the time came that I was watching it... um... I... how should I say this... well, just watch it and see for yourself.

Anyway, hoping to see more good films in the remaining months of 2009.

- I'm busy. These past few days at work made me into a very busy person.

- I'm farmtowning (Okay, that's the word I created after being enticed by my Boss to play Farm Town in facebook).

- I'm looking for something and I can't find it. Yes, folks, it's vague.

- I can't keep up with the times. Am I really getting left behind? Let's see... Nope. I still have my PSP. It's still working and looks okay well, it's dusty and dirty but still functional.

People, we're entering the -Ber months again. That's right, September, October, November and December. After that it's another year. Time flies when you're busy farmtowning, looking for something or it simply flies fast because you can't keep up the workaday world.

2010... The word "Elections" comes to mind here. Wonder who'll win (and who'll cheat as well).

I know Christmas is still distant but I what I really want is a new game console. PS2 (or PS3 whichever looks better). I also want a Video Camera, a new laptop, a better printer and tickets to a vacation in a white, sandy beach (or overseas tour and travel like going to HK and/or Singapore). Wants, wants, wants... Desires, desires, desires... good thing "wanting" is free or else I'd be in a huge debt if they charge me for every "want".

Finally, it's August. What a sad way to start the month though as the former President of the Philippines (and considered as an icon of democracy by many), Cory Aquino, dies at the start of the month.

Well, it's been a good year for Cinemalaya. Almost all full length competition films (except one... well, that film has some good elements in it anyway) has received at least 1 award.

Well, that's about it for the full-length competition films. I've watched all 10 of them (Thank you Festival Pass! The Pass may be a bit pricey (Php 1000, now sold out) but it granted me unlimited access to all screenings of competition and exhibition films. Even when a screening is sold out, as long as I have the pass I can enter freely. I said goodbye to long lines and saved myself from the frustrations and worries in the event that I might not be able to buy a ticket if everything went sold out)

I can't wait for the awards night. I have my own bets on who's winning and who's not. One thing is for sure, out of 10 I have watched, I enjoyed 8.

PLEASE maintain proper decorum at all times during a formal event like the Cinemalaya Opening Night. Remember your manners people and restrain from exhibiting that kind of behavior. If you were there, you know what I mean. He may be your biggest fan but try to keep that to yourself so that you don't bother other people.

Still, to balance the sour and the sweet, the opening night was great. The opening film is quite good (hints: Black and White, Lighting and Shadow, Long Takes). This film will also be shown next week in theaters near you...

* We (and I mean, me and my other 2 friends) watched Ice Age in 3D. Wow, 3D does enhance the visual experience. But of course, story's pretty simple. It's enjoyable and ideal for friends and family to watch.

* I dunno if I can rush to the opening night on July 17 at CCP. I mean, my shift ends at 6PM (supposedly, events begin as early as 7PM). Not counting rush hour and the time it takes to get there, one thing is for sure--- I'll be late.

* Don't worry, though. I'll be watching a few films on the weekends (July 18-19). I'd like to check what's in store for the set indie films made this year.

Let's see... what do I want to be when I grow up?

Do I want to be free and independent from the clutches of those who support me?

Independence is something to be treasured. If we backtrack in history, our forefathers sought and fought for independence from their colonizers. We, too, should do the same for ourselves. We may not be colonized like before but given the situation that we are getting near the 2010 election (not to mention the noise created by Con-Ass/Cha-Cha), we must do part and fight for what we believe is best for our country.

That's not good for me anymore. I used to enjoy rainy days especially when there is an announcement of suspension of classes. Alas, that doesn't apply to me anymore (unless of course, I go back to school).

I'm not much of a moviegoer, really. I only watch the ones that would tickle my fancy and/or curiosity. So, it really doesn't matter if it's local or foreign, drama or comedy (or both), Animated or Live Action (well, all of them are Live Action with the exception of some titles containing few scenes with 3D rendered animation). As long as I'm in the mood, I might consider watching a film or two.

I have yet to watch other movies so long as they're still in the theaters (and no, I don't have time to wait for the DVD/VCD releases). So, out of the 11 I've watched so far, only 4 titles are considered (for me) to be intellectually and emotionally satisfying. As to what they are, I'll tell you some other time.

Ahhh... How I miss going back to school... meeting new students, first day orientation, syllabus distribution, outlining of requirements and expectations and of course, the learning process (whether it be transmissive or transformative). If I were to go back in time, I would cherish all the good and bad experiences since some of them really are quite memorable. It kind of reminds me of the movie 17 Again wherein the protagonist becomes 20 years younger just by falling into a whirlpool (though the get-younger-by-falling-into-some-vortex idea feels a bit overused). Oh well, at least I can visit the school from time to time.

Yeah, that's how I feel today. The inconsistency in weather (Sunny today, rainy tomorrow) is making me feel quite annoyed. Plus, I'm having trouble adapting to constant, unannounced changes in where I work. Damn. Why didn't you tell me anything at all? You could have at least consulted me with this and then maybe we could have worked something out. But nooo... you had to insist it your way.

Grrr... My computer is slow, my internet connection is slow (whether it be broadband or dial-up and take note that my dial-up is slower than usual), share-a-load transaction is slow (often down). It must be one of those "slow" days (no wait... that usually applies when you're on vacation. Or when you're in a quiet, provincial setting)

Indeed. Time flies fast but I'm too slow to realize that.

Let's see...

- It's already May yet when I look the window, the sun seems to be hiding from the thick white (or gray) clouds. The sky often cries a lot making everyone think that summer is over.

- I've been thinking of traveling overseas for quite a while now. At this point, I can afford to do a 3D2N on HK. Then again, I'll postpone that idea due to swine flu pandemic concerns. Okay, so we had SARS, bird flu... and now this new strain of virus. Ooooh... Fluuu...

- Finally (well for this entry at least), I'll be watching a couple of movies this May (Angels and Demons seems to be promising, let's hope so).

OMG! Why the tagalog me? (hehehe...)

Let's just say things aren't going well for me. I have to say goodbye to my travel plans for a while since my incentives earned for April will go down the drain (Yup, not even one cent out of it... damn!). So, what happened? Two words can define that: Stupidity Impulse. That is something I should have resisted but did not.

It doesn't mean, though, that I'll come home empty-handed. I'll still get something though it's not enough now to get what I want.

Oh well, moving forward, I'll try to stay in focus. Anyway, just a few more months and I'll be able to break away (and move to greener pastures... at least in my perspective anyway).

Patience, I need lots of that.

P.S. Yeah, it's vague (though not entirely), I know. I really don't want to divulge the whole story about it. I find it interesting to write about it in that particular style.

P.P.S. What the? It's raining when it's the middle of summer? More on that on the next entry (well, probably on the next entry anyway...)

Holy... Week! (Some of you thought I was gonna say cow. Well, not this time) It's fast approaching. For some, it's a time of repentance while others go to Bora and spend their holidays there.

As for me, I'll go back to my hometown and spend the Holy Week there (or until Easter kicks in).

Anyways, Busy, Busy, Busy. I'm busy, you're busy (well, those who have a lot in their hands).

Busy, busy, busy. Though I find it amusing that I still have time to blog (Well, sort of), to surf, to watch movies, go to sing-alongs, drink... Woah, talk about flexibility here.

Despite my "BUSY-ness", I'm thankful that I still have a job, being able to pay bills and still have fun.

I'm currently checking Video Stores to check and see if 100 is available on DVD. Oh well, I'll still keep on checking.

A Quick Announcement

Thanks to Jef's suggestion, I will now construct my very own facebook. It is also his suggestion that I should also start a whole new "Virtual Life" from there since he mentioned that Friendster is getting "a little too old".

Okay, then, I'll make a note of that and see if everything's smooth sailing. I also hope to invite you there once I've opened my account.

Hopefully, if Facebook's really good, I can make a slow and steady transition in transferring my profiles and details to Facebook and make Friendster my "backup Social Networking Web Site"

March, the Month of School Graduation and Other Stuff

Oh, how I miss graduation, how I miss the school days... the MWF's, TH's and MF's as well the 3-hour M, T, W, H, and F's. I miss the rooms in the Miguel Building though I could visit that one if I wanted to but of course it could never replace the experience of being there during the time that I was still taking my majors.

But anyway, moving on, everything's still okay. It's not the best but not the worst and I'm still liking my job. I try not to be affected by the bad influence that's been going around our company (Cost-cutting? Office Politics? Yeah, right.) Well, anyway, thinking about them is a waste of my time and energy. Let's all try to be optimistic now, thank you.

Speaking of time, well, little did I know that it can fly so fast. Time today feels faster than a school trimester! Well, maybe it's because of my work environment or maybe due to the effects of the looming crisis... or maybe it's just me.

Next topic: I actually feel optimistic about Year 2009. I know, it's gonna be a tough year for everyone but I know that we can surpass the challenges ahead of us. We just have to spend wisely (in fact, the news on TV even mentioned to prioritize basic necessities), save money, think positive and never give up on hoping.

HSM 3 - Are they still all in this together?

Okay, so I watched another sequel of HSM (If you don't know what the acronym stands for then look it up at the current movies of October 2008) at Glorietta at around 4:50pm, Oct. 24. Here are some of my witty (and not so witty) observations/rantings (Haven't watched HSM 3 yet? Watch it before reading this.)

If you've seen it then here I go...

1. Okay, first off, story's pretty basic. It's one of those feel-good, lighthearted stories (as one would expect from a Disney film). Fine by me.

2. JCDVC - Jump Cuts Disrupt Visual Continuity. There are scenes in the film that have noticeable jump cuts (Rushed editing, perhaps?)

3. Woah! East High 66; Competitor 65... Okay, the rival school didn't even score a single point in the second half (or the "16 minutes" if you know what I mean).

4. Music and Songs used were good, lively and upbeat. Production design and costume were also good.

5. The rain effect during Troy and Gab's dance is... so cliché. Come on, it's not as if I haven't seen that type of scene already!

6. Even if we're miles apart... Even if we're miles apart... Even if we're miles and miles and miles apart... Hahaha! this particular scene is hilarious!

7. Turning HSM 3 to film isn't half bad. Although they're all going in their separate ways, they wouldn't be all in this together anymore (in a reunion, perhaps). Which brings us to:

8. A possible sequel? Well, it seems that this is the last of the HSM series... unless they'll have a reunion or something (and maybe see if share the same sentiments as they did during HS) and call it HSM 4... then again it wouldn't be HSM if the characters aren't HS.

Well, that's about it. And oh one more thing...

When I was watching the film, there was this annoying guy who was so rude and noisy. He kept saying: "O, ayan, kakanta na siya...", " *insert song lyrics here* na dito sa part na 'to" and many other comments about the film and the characters.

HELLO?!? Kapal naman ng mukha mo. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! How dare you destroy my viewing experience! Next time, dude, be considerate of the people around you who also wants to watch the film. Fight the urge to do a side-comment in every scene. Is that clear, Mr. I'm-so-noisy-when-I-watched-HSM3?

This has everything to do with me meeting my target. Hey, if I can't meet the target dead-on, then why not get near the target as close as possible? The Selling Game

It's all about the selling game.

Once you've properly and correctly sold a number of units, you earn incentives. As to how big the incentives are... well, I leave it to the reader's imagination. But one thing is for sure, it's WAY bigger than pocket change... or perhaps double or triple (or even bigger) than my monthly salary.

One false move and say goodbye to incentives.

Again, it's all about the selling game. Don't cheat. Play fair. Follow the rules. Be creative but don't twist the idea.

Yehey! I'm hired!

For me, this is a very good opportunity for career growth. For some, they say that I've hit the jackpot.

But one thing is for sure...

I'm gonna start on August 4! Oh yeah!

Okay, here are my thoughts so far after 2 days of training. Yes, I go a week of training, then another week of a different training, then "comes the real thing" (of course you would still go back to training from time to time since this is probably a way to polish your skills)

1. Woah! They have very, very strict policies on attendance. You cannot afford to be late in this company. They are also strict about absences (informed or not).

2. I have to do my best to pass AND EXCEL in training. If not, then I will regretfully concentrate on my other job offers (which I hope DOES NOT HAPPEN). I want to stay with this company. Which leads to #3:

3. There are lots and lots (and lots) of benefits. These benefits are more than what employees can expect.

4. It looks like I'm the only one in the batch with the least amount of experience. I hope this doesn't put me into a disadvantage. In fact, I don't just want them to train me, I want them to actually mold me into that ideal, successful person. Of course, that would only happen if I fully devote myself to the job. Plus, I have to love the job no matter what the situation is even if everything looks hopeless. Though I guess it's too early to tell. Then again, I would not dare to change my mind... at least not for a year since:

5. I have to pay a huge sum of money if I leave the company willingly. I don't want to do that because I don't the money to that. Even if I did, I still wouldn't dare.

6. Aside from what I've stated in #4, I'm also the youngest in the batch. Again, I hope the age factor does not work against me since I believe that being young is actually a good opportunity towards my career growth.

7. Okay, so I've met new people who came from different backgrounds... they're all great. I hope to learn from their experiences as well.

8. With regards to training, it's actually a bit classroom-based. You have your traditional lectures in powerpoints, discussions, group activities and quizzes (yes, they are graded in your training) and of course the "oral assessment" (take note of the quotation marks). But these trainings are quite fun. I enjoy it so far (maybe because I haven't reached the hard part yet, hehehe...) But...

9. I love the challenge. It makes me want to go the extra mile just to improve. During the training, it was said that "it is normal to feel nervous and ask yourself on why you are still continuing this job." Sure, I may encounter various obstacles but with patience, perservance and effort, I believe that I can make it. Cliché, but true.

10. Lastly, training is very abundant. You learn so many things in one day. Plus, the facilities are high-end. I find this as a way to motivate me during training.

I wish I tell more but I have to stop here.

So, did you guess what company I'm working for? Only a handful of people know this. If you manage to find out, then good for you. Though I won't tell it in this entry (But if you're good at guessing and at analyzing the clues, then you would be able to figure it out in no time). Basta, I won't spoil it for you (though I'll tell you the answer if you ask me personally :-P )

Today's morning interview with one of the mainstream film companies did not go really well. Wala pang five minutes tapos na ang interview. Oh well, I guess I'll just charge this one to experience. I really didn't think I'd make it anyway pero at least 'di ba nasubakan kahit papaano...

Some remaining agenda:

1. Graduation March yada yada yada...

2. Return Graduation Toga and Gown a week after.

3. Receive original diploma and TOR sometime this August.

Okay, it's been half a month since my summer class. I've been looking for jobs here and there.

Sadly, I couldn't (yet) find a job that I would like. I want a job that would make me devote my (almost) entire life and at the same time enjoy it.

The saying "Do what you want and money will follow" during a meeting in my SOCIETY class still plays in my head.

Now that I'm about to exit the "hollowed walls of La Salle" (well, that's how my RELSFOR prof. coined it), I ask myself, "Okay, that step of your life is over, what's the next one?"

Well, the storms are finally here. The summer heat ended a bit too quickly.

Well, course cards were out. Got a hard earned 3.5 (well, majority of the class got at least a 3.0 and I doubt that anyone failed)

That's it. I've retired... from my undergraduate studies.

For the Next Post: What I have learned (exactly 1 insight (general or specific) per course and no looking at lecture notes) in my 3-year stay at DLSU.

Instead of summing it up with "I learned a lot" or "College helped me to prepare...", I'll try to be more specific. Three years is very long so I might as well take my time in writing the next entry.

Okay, for now, my only plans are: (1) follow the schedule of the graduation activities and (2) look for a job (3) while looking for a job, plan the next entry.

2 Hours (8 hours, officially) left till summer ends

Okay, so tomorrow's the last day for my KASPIL2. Tomorrow is also the submission of ALL the requirements. What's unfortunate about this is that the deadline all the major requirements (Revision of A.P.O.I. Modules, Position Papers and Take Home Exams) were thrown into one day. Next week (or the remaining 6 hours) supposedly would be the "finishing touches" of the course.

Provided that I pass KASPIL2 (yes, this is my last subject and yet I'm still feeling a sense of uncertainty), I would:

1. Get my course card (duh?)
2. Find a job... online or visit a Job Expo. I will also have to update my resumé, prepare cover letters, etc.
3. Throw away photocopies (not all, though). I'll also do spring cleaning (even if it is summer).
4. Graduate in June 21 (of course).

I'll probably take up Master's when I reach 21 (provided that (a) I get a decent and enjoyable job and (b) Income > Expenses... you get the idea) But then again, God may have other plans for me...

Well, anyway, summer will be over soon. I can't believe that I'll be getting a job. I mean, I have to... since our bills are soaring.

16 Hours Left Till My Summer Class Ends

Who would have thought that one measly floating subject could bring about so, so much requirements... 2 (or 3) position papers, 4 A.P.O.I. (this is a transformative learning acronym) and exams (take-home and in class).

Well, everything has to end. So, after May 10, I will celebrate and say:

30 Hours Left for Summer... Class

I've already finished 12 hours of summer (M-S 1300-1500) of Kaspil2. Well, the subject isn't really hard and, well, the professor is well-known to be... difficult (from the 42 students who enrolled, 15 have already dropped. As of today, 27 are left including me... what is this, survivor?).

I can't believe how Term 4 (Summer Trimester) operates. You have to finish all (well, most, in my case) of the topics in the syllabus in less than a month. Kaya pala parang nagmamadaling matapos...

Well, I can't blame that. Summer Trimester consists of only 42 hours (2 hours per meeting, 6 meetings in a week, so that's more or less 3 weeks).

Oh well. At least I'm doing something this summer.

Summer...Summer...Summer...

Yes, folks, the heat of summer sunshine has already started.

Aside from the revisions in my thesis report (yeah, there's bound to be revisions, of course) and taking up KASPIL2 in summer, that's pretty much it.

Wow, 3 years in college. Most (if not all) of my batchmates in high school who took up college (that is, if they did) has one more year ahead of them (provided that they didn't fail major subjects, didn't shift or drop out, they'll be fine). Is it too early to celebrate? Maybe. Of course, I have to be thrown into the workaday world and earn some money to pay the bills and stuff...

Of course, I would like a time off exploring the vast earth, getting myself lost while learning the cultures and the way of life of the places I'll visit. I'd be saying "hi" in different native languages, eat food that I haven't seen nor tasted in my entire life and smell the fragrance of nature...

Then suddenly, I woke up. Maybe I'll fulfill this dream of traveling around the world (Baraka style)

Then again, maybe not. Who knows? But for now...

I'll enjoy what life (mostly) has to offer. It's a worn-out statement, I know. But that's the one that best applies to me.

P.S. Congrats to those who have successfully defended their thesis. Kita-kits na lang sa graduation rehearsals (of course, there are rehearsals before the graduation proper) or kahit sa campus.

1. ARTSELF Paper (Ideas, ideas, ideas... hmmm...)
2. Submit Post-defense requirements (revisions and the report)
3. Enroll for Kaspil2 this summer after course card
4. Pray that everything goes well...

1. What is with this HEAT?!? It's driving me crazy... rather, it's driving me thirsty, sweaty, and weak.
2. I wish good luck to those who can and will make it... I hope this helps...

- A final exam in stat
- A report and a long exam in philorl
-A final project in genders
-A report on a docu filmmaker and the treatment for my proposed documentary
- To enroll in summer Kaspil2
4. Okay, with this, I rest and relax for the time being and get right back to business.
